Cascadia, Land of Arrivals. And Departures

After departing our old stomping grounds, we continued west through the amazing flood plains of the great Ice Age Floods in Central Washington. No pics though, as we were making time to get to a dinner with friends.

Once we started crossing the Cascades, we started reminiscing about spots along that part of the interstate, especially the laughs that we had at Snoqualmie Pass while we thru-hiked the Pacific Creat Trail (PCT). The details are buried in the blog linked at the bottom of the page.

Along the way, we made a quick roadside stop. One that we have made man tea before. And one that many driving into the Seattle make every day.

The most memorable part was opening the driver’s door. Nothing like getting punched in the face with the deep, fresh smell of evergreen forest. I had to stop and inhale deeply several times.

Too bad that scratch-and-sniff technology doesn’t exist for screens.

Random forest view, Snoqualmie Pass-ish, Washington

Popping out of the forested Cascades reveals paved highways and concrete city blocks. Normally that’s nothing to celebrate, but the area brought us back in contact with long-time friends over a few days.

As one said, it was good for the soul.

As were the views, thanks to some clear skies.

Tahoma (Mt Rainier) from Point Defiance Park, Tacoma, Washington
Downtown Seattle. Unfortunately, the clouds didn’t break sufficiently to see Tahoma to the right for the classic view.

More blue-hued pictures to come.
